Volvo Group Senior Executives Visit China Sany

On March 5, 2026, Redha Messaoui, Senior Vice President of Volvo Group, led a 15-member delegation to visit the headquarters of Sany Heavy Truck at the Sany Intelligent Heavy Truck Industrial Park in Changsha City, Hunan Province, China. A high-level meeting was held to facilitate in-depth discussions on new energy heavy truck R&D innovation, supply chain collaboration, and the "China Speed" industrial model.

High-Level Dialogue: Redha Messaoui and Sany Heavy Truck Chairman Liang Linhe reached a consensus on the path toward the high-quality development of global new-energy heavy trucks, emphasizing a collaborative approach characterized by mutual learning, openness, and sharing.

Technology Focus: R&D teams from both sides explored optimizing R&D cycles, upgrading critical components, and leveraging supply chain advantages. The Volvo Group expressed strong interest in China’s leading practices in battery technology and hydrogen fuel systems.

On-Site Inspection: The delegation conducted a comprehensive tour of the Sany Intelligent Heavy Truck Industrial Park, witnessing firsthand the achievements in intelligent manufacturing, decarbonization, and digital transformation. They highly praised Sany’s “Dual Lighthouse Factory” capabilities and electrification strategy.

Strategic Context and Industry Significance

Since launching its electrification strategy in 2021, Sany Heavy Truck has been China’s top-selling new-energy heavy truck manufacturer for four consecutive years (2021–2024), establishing itself as the leading Chinese benchmark in the global new-energy heavy truck sector.

Redha Messaoui stated, “China’s rapid innovation and systemic capabilities in new-energy heavy trucks are a vital engine driving the global industrial transformation.”

Volvo Group and Volvo Trucks China President Cen Jiahui noted that this visit was a crucial step in deepening their understanding of China’s manufacturing system and exploring opportunities for future collaboration.
