Scania Truck's Rugao Base in China Set for Q4 2025 Production Launch‌

Scania Truck's Rugao manufacturing base – the group's first wholly foreign-owned commercial vehicle production facility in China and its third global manufacturing hub following Europe and South America – is scheduled to commence operations in Q4 2025.

Established in May 2020 within the Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone (Nantong, Jiangsu Province), the project officially commenced construction on June 10, 2022. With a total investment of approximately RMB 10.2 billion, the facility spans a planned area of 554 mu (approx. 36.93 hectares), including reserved space for future expansion.

The base will be developed in two phases, integrating a complete industrial chain encompassing vehicle assembly and powertrain systems production. Designed for an annual capacity of 50,000 commercial heavy-duty trucks, it will adopt Scania's global unified production standards and aims to become China's first carbon-neutral commercial vehicle production base. Products will serve both domestic and broader Asian markets.
