Scania Launches Large-Scale Delivery in China

Starting March 1, 2026, Scania’s global third-largest industrial hub in Rugao, Jiangsu, officially commenced large-scale deliveries of its NEXT ERA product line, marking a complete transition from import sales to fully localized, end-to-end operations in China.

The NEXT ERA series is specifically designed for China’s long-haul logistics market, integrating local digital ecosystems with a modular platform (TMS). It emphasizes high efficiency and a low total cost of ownership (TCO), while complementing Scania’s global premium lineup.

The Rugao facility has an annual production capacity of 50,000 units and is Scania’s first wholly foreign-owned heavy truck plant in China. It is powered entirely by renewable energy, making it the country’s first carbon-neutral commercial vehicle manufacturing base.

Local production significantly shortens the order-to-delivery cycle and enhances service response speed by over 40%, directly addressing fleet operators’ requirements for timeliness and operational stability.

This initiative goes beyond simple capacity expansion—it embodies the “In China, For China” strategy, fully integrating R&D, procurement, manufacturing, sales, and service into a localized ecosystem, thereby reshaping the landscape of China’s premium commercial vehicle market.
