‌Scania China Production Base officially opens

The grand opening of Scania's China (Nantong industrial) production base marks a significant milestone for the 134-year-old Swedish commercial vehicle leader in the Chinese market. As Scania's third global production site, the project has a total investment of €2 billion, covers 800,000 square meters, and has an annual capacity of 50,000 vehicles, serving both domestic and Asian-Oceanian markets.

This facility is the first wholly-owned truck plant in China approved by a European commercial vehicle manufacturer, demonstrating Scania's long-term commitment to the Chinese market.

Designed with modern and intelligent features, the site operates almost entirely on renewable energy, including biogas and clean electricity, supporting global decarbonization goals. From approval to opening in just five years, it exemplifies the perfect blend of "China speed" and "Swedish precision." The base has created over 3,000 jobs and attracted over 5 billion CNY in upstream and downstream industrial investments.

Ruthger de Vries, President of Scania Asia Industrial Operations, stated that the site will provide diversified transportation solutions for China and Asia while sharing technological expertise to drive industry growth. Nantong city officials emphasized that this project is a landmark achievement for foreign investment in China and will further improve the business environment to attract more international companies.
